Crisis doesn't wait for us to be ready,
So we prepare for it instead. Mason Mappers is a humanitarian mapping organization at George Mason University. Mason Mappers, founded in spring of 2015, was comprised of a group of students wishing to apply their classroom knowledge to real world problems. These students were all from a variety of fields that extended beyond the discipline of geography, which only served to broaden our horizons and discover how these different fields were all connected. Since then, our organization has developed a multitude of ways to volunteer our skill sets to both local and global communities.
We believe that every community deserves the chance to grow and have the right tools to do so. It is with this belief that we not only foster dataset foundations for others, but also in our own members. Through career building activities, technical skill workshops, hands on projects, and other team building exercises, we help our members see the best in themselves and become the leaders of tomorrow.
The world is changing. That much is true. But we are doing much more than changing. Our greatest challenge today is finding the bridge between knowledge and global innovation. And we are meeting that challenge everyday.
